MRI, X-ray, & DEXA Bone Density Scans
Advanced SportsMedicine Center wants to make your experience with us as easy as possible, so we offer on-site diagnostic capabilities in our convenient Sarasota office. You won’t have to drive to the hospital or some other location for an MRI, DEXA bone density scan, or X-ray; we do it all here in the office. When you meet with Dr. John Moor or one of our other skilled providers, they will let you know if you need an X-ray, MRI, or something else.
Orthopedic doctors use MRIs to study parts of the body that are made of soft tissues such as muscles, ligaments, tendons, and cartilage (structures that an X-ray won’t show). MRIs are commonly used for diagnosing orthopedic injuries and sports medicine conditions.
The first step in diagnosing an orthopedic problem is typically through digital X-ray. Our orthopedic doctor may also request an arthrogram injection, which is an injection of dye that aids in the interpretation of X-ray images, especially for joint X-rays. These injections are generally called for when the patient has unexplainable joint pain.
